Massgoers who attend St. Bernadette in Scottsdale this weekend will encounter a true sister in Christ, one among a religious community who goes out to the peripheries to rescue those who have fallen away. A Filipino nun will share about her order’s mission to save women and children victims of human trafficking and prostitution.
Sr. Monica is from Mary Queen of Heaven Missionaries based in the Archdiocese of Cebu in the Philippines. The sisters informally united themselves in Christ 20 years ago this month and were canonically erected in 2003. Their mission:
[quote_box_center]to live together in one heart and one soul, to be a “creation of new hope” for the destitute women of society who have become slaves of fornication and sexual perversion. With the sisters chosen by the “New Eve”, the Woman clothed with the sun (Rev. 12:1), God shall liberate these women back to Her image of unblemished dignity.[/quote_box_center]
Sr. Monica’s U.S. visit seeks help saving women and children victims of human trafficking and prostitution in the Philippines, especially in the construction of a second Home of Love. It is a home for the women and children rescued from the streets. The sisters are offering rosaries and other religious articles for donation after all Masses at St. Bernadette. They are also looking for sponsors for the 4,000 children they are helping with a high school education. Support them.
Take a look at some of the sisters’ other lifesaving work:
- Shelter for victims of prostitution plus aerial view and program outline
- Fight on prostitution
- Minors rescued
This is how the sisters rescue women and children:
[quote_box_center]They go out at night and penetrate the “red districts”, entering bars and casas to share the filial love of God to the victims of prostitution (pick up girls, bar dancers, tourist escorts or GRO’s) and even to videoke bar waitresses. They place them under the maternal protection of Mary, giving them the powerful weapons of Mary, the Holy Rosary and the Brown Scapular with the appropriate literature and prayer guide. The sisters listen attentively to the outpouring of their problems and thirst for God. Through the miraculous touch of the “Mother of Mercy and of Holy Hope” by the warm embrace and open hearts of the sisters, their hearts and minds will be awakened and regain direction towards oneness with God’s fervent call for repentance and renewed life with Him.[/quote_box_center]
