Ironically, as the official season of spring is upon us, we’re nearing the end of Spring Training season in Arizona and the end of the March rush of college students who spend their spring break serving our Catholic nonprofits.
Here’s a look back.
This James Madison University student was among 10 who left Virginia for a week to work with refugees from around the world who settle into the Valley with the help of Catholic Charities Community Services:
Other college students from a litany of campuses served homeless guests at André House. There were:
- nine from St. Edwards University, a Holy Cross campus in Austin, Texas
- seven from Stonehill College, a Catholic campus in Massachusetts
- seven from Emmanuel College in Boston, a campus founded by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur
- 10 from St. Anselm College, a Benedictine campus in New Hampshire
Check out their photos and some of their projects on André House’s Facebook feed.
We’re also in the home stretch of hosting 15 major league baseball teams in our diocese as they complete spring training. Catholic News Service gives us a firsthand look via perspectives from Catholic players, team staff and chaplains.
