This video highlights the mission of the Summer Service Learning Projects by University of Notre Dame students which sends them across the country to encounter and serve those often seen on the margins of society. André House of Arizona is among its featured ministries and its core staff are featured in it.
The video is titled “Summer Service Learning Program,” but service doesn’t have to be confined to a season. Summer may offer an opportunity for more in-depth interactions with those on the margins, but so can becoming a Vincentian and visiting weekly with neighbors in the community having trouble making ends meet when it comes to bills, rent and food.
The Diocese of Phoenix has more than 80 parish-based service centers that send trained volunteers into the homes of those in need. For younger Catholics, behind the scenes support is often the way to go. Consider registering for the next Hearts and Hands Day Oct. 3 at St. Vincent de Paul.
