Enjoy the above video that has been making its way around the Internet since Holy Week. Note the ethnic diversity of the musicians and vocalists that unite for a single prayer.
That’s the kind of prayer Massgoers should expect at the latest Cultural Diversity Mass in the Diocese of Phoenix. The April 16 liturgy might easily turn a monolingual Catholic into a multilingual one. There are plenty of opportunities for listening ears to pick up a word or phrase in a foreign language. Most of the diocese’s 12 major ethnicities will represent their culture through music and spoken prayer.
The liturgy features a nearly hour-long musical prelude that showcases the linguistic diversity of the Catholic Church. Readings, prayer petitions and Mass songs will also be shared in various languages.
Join in. The celebration begins with a musical prelude at 4 p.m. at St. Gregory Parish followed by Mass and a multicultural buffet.
