Catholic Charities has been welcoming and resettling refugees in Arizona from all parts of the world since 1975. Our staff and volunteers work TOGETHER to provide a welcoming and supportive network to help refugees who are new to our country.
You and your parish can support by adopting families during the holidays, organize on-going fundraisers or humanitarian drives at your church to collect items like hygiene items, baby items for our mothers, monetary donations-for special clothing, food, etc., among other items.
We offer presentations to educate the community to truly understand the journey of a refugee in our country. We can help you start a Refugee Ministry in your parish. If you are interested in paring with a Refugee family to walk alongside them in other ways, we can connect you with parishes who have done this beautiful act, among other great ideas to engage you and your parish in welcoming thy neighbor.
To begin your mission in welcoming and helping a refugee family or a refugee minor in need, call (602) 396-0268 and visit us at www.catholiccharitiesaz.org. Contact Dulce Valdez, for a Spanish bulletin and other material at dvaldez@cc-az.org.
Thank you to the parishes in the Diocese of Phoenix who have said “yes” to this mission. We could not do God’s work without you!
“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me,” Matthew 25:35
