A program presented in partnership with the Franciscan School of Theology
Although Genesis 1 is set chronologically before the rest of the stories of the Bible, many scholars believe it was one of the last parts of the Book of Genesis to be written. It seems to be the product of an editor who has two strong perspectives before him or her and finds a way to honor both of them while furthering a message of goodness and orderliness that is not always present in Genesis. Genesis 1 emphatically focuses the reader on blessing and especially goodness.
