A desire for better mental health and a commitment to spirituality need not be at odds with one another; in fact, the two can often work together toward a more grounded and peace-filled life. Hear from a Franciscan friar and a therapist about the challenge and reward of turning toward the inner life. Through personal stories, psychological theories, spiritual concepts, and biblical narratives, Steven Young, OFM, and Ryan M. Sheade, LCSW, will explore the ways in which we interpret external events, for better or for worse. Are we doomed to feel angry every time someone cuts us off on the road? How can we better discern God’s movements in everyday events? What must we let go of in order to move forward on our human journey? At the intersection of mental health and spirituality, greater insight into these and other questions awaits.
