This presentation from the Vatican Observatory Foundation will address a different approach to the concept of Creation as suggested by scientists like Neil deGrasse Tyson who have commented on the possibility that we are living in a Simulated Universe.
The series on Creation at the CASA has included discussions of both the Judeo-Christian concept of Divine Creation and the opposing view that Creation is purely a physical phenomenon that does not involve a Creator.
Now, the evolving field of Artificial Intelligence has stimulated a discussion that our Universe is not a natural or a Divine phenomenon but that it is the product of a computer simulation. It is necessary to put this concept into its proper perspective; that it is wrong and a denial of God.
Artificial Intelligence offers the prospect of providing many benefits to humanity, but it is critical that we must not substitute our understanding of reality for a belief in an artificially created Universe.
The audience to participate in an ongoing discussion during the presentation.
